Yoast Plugin: A Powerful SEO Tool

There are a number of ways to build traffic that range from simple to complex, each with unique tactics. SEO tools come in all types, all with varying degrees of difficulty, and finding the right one can be a bit tricky depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. I know that here at Netvantage, while working on a WordPress site, we love one tool in particular that makes our SEO work that much easier: the Yoast SEO Plugin. Yoast is a free and easy to install plugin that offers a number of SEO focused tools for your site or blog that work to increase traffic, make pages cleaner, and also aid in analytics. Here is a list of Yoast highlights and some of the tools that we at Netvantage use every day.

The Best of Yoast

One of the best parts of Yoast is that it can be utilized right in the edit portion of each page on your site. At the very bottom of the page, Yoast has a box with various ways to optimize your content. There are numerous SEO tools that can benefit each page that are easily laid out, allowing you to quickly implement keywords and great traffic building tactics.

Titles & Metas

One of the best advantages of Yoast is the “Titles & Metas” option that is available for each page on the site. This tool allows you to easily create custom title tags and meta descriptions for each page on your site. Having a solid, keyword focused title and description for each page is essential when it comes to SEO and traffic. Yoast eliminates the need to go into the HTML and simplifies this process greatly.

Focus Keywords

Another option available is the ability to input and specify the specific keywords being utilized for each page.  The plugin then has an option titled “Page Analysis” that calculates a keyword score for the page. This score is just a generalized number based on how many times the focus keywords appear on the page, the title, meta description, etc. This can be useful in determining if you are too keyword heavy or too light.

Webmaster Tools Verification

Yoast also provides the Webmaster Tools verification option. This helps to quickly and easily verify your Google, Bing, Alexa, or Yandex Webmaster Tools so you can better analyze traffic trends and manage your site.  Located in the side menu under SEO General, the Webmaster Tools tab allows users to input the verify meta values for each site for a quick verification.

XML Sitemaps

Also located on the side menu under SEO, the sitemap tools offer users the ability to quickly find their sitemap and to edit it efficiently. This is beneficial again while working in Webmaster Tools, as adding your sitemap can help in making your analysis more complete.
