Apple may have just changed a key part of how the internet works — Apple just announced that they’re REDUCING the validity period for TLS certificates down to 368 days…that’s over a year for you non-math-inclined people… The certificate authorities are all up in arms about it–they want it to be longer. Why in the hell would you make a security certificate valid for anything more than a year? …and why would the CAs give a damn how often certificates renew? I admit, I’m tired as hell right now…but I don’t think Apple’s move is aggressive enough and I can’t figure out what the CAs are complaining about.

2020 Google paid search trends that have nothing to do with the pandemic — The author did an excellent study of broad search trends that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic and over the last few years, including tablet usage and shopping ads. However, the one standpoint for me was the analysis of keyword match types and those trends. Included in this is how Google is now grouping and triggering impressions for what is considers to be exact match queries, which are not indeed exact match. This is a troubling trend.
