How Netvantage Stays On Top of Current SEM Trends

The Search Engine Marketing world is constantly changing. At Netvantage, it is extremely important for us to stay on-top of those changes. To do this, we scour a lot of different websites. And just like we each have our own favorite Google Analytics reports, we each have our favorite websites when it comes to learning the latest news. Here are our go-to information sources:

I feel like a dinosaur sometimes for saying this, but I have some Google Alerts set for things like “Google Algorithm update” that make sure nothing major gets by me. Beyond that, I usually do a daily glance through my Twitter feed which has a lot of the celebrity SEOs like Dr. Pete and Wil Reynolds sharing the latest and greatest. Adam HenigeAdam Henige

There are number of great blogs and sites dedicated to keeping readers up to date on current SEO topics. Some of my favorites include Local Visibility System and BrightLocal’s blogs. Both sites provide in-depth articles and updates about what’s happening in the world of local SEO allowing me to learn and stay on top of new tactics and resources. Emily ClemonsEmily Clemons

A lot of mainstream technical sites provide me a wide swath of current happenings. Sites like Engadget, Gizmodo, Ars Technica, & Wired are in the rotation and when I’m looking for very specific information, technical discussion forums are invaluable in sorting out issues I’m working on. The main source for me is the #ppcchat group on Twitter. This is a great group of PPC professionals who truly know their stuff and share it. I always pick up the lastest happenings on AdWords updates and it is a centralized source for important blog posts. It also helps that the group has strong camaraderie and a great sense of humor. When it comes to staying up-to-date on social media, I have numerous websites I visit to read articles on the latest trends. Social Media Today and Social Media Examiner, are two very common ones in the field. I also find it beneficial to do simple social media searches on Twitter to find the latest relevant information. I often find interesting articles and tips from inbound.org. Co-founded by Moz and Hubspot in 2012, Inbound.org is a community of online marketers who post articles, events, tools and other interesting information. Community members can vote up and comment on interesting content, so you’ll typically see some pretty cool stuff right at the top. Michael HallMichael Hall
