SEMrush Tools You Might Not Know About

The Netvantage staff members are avid users and fans of SEMrush. SEMrush is large and continues to add new tools that help search engine marketers. With the vast possibilities of the tool, it’s easy to underutilize it. Due to this, I wanted to share some of my favorite features in SEMrush so you can get the most out of this gem of a search engine marketing tool.

Topic Research

If you feel like you’re tapped out of blog post and content ideas, the Topic Research tool is your answer. The tool helps curate content for what I would call subcategories of your chosen keywords. It finds popular headlines for articles and blog posts for the subcategories as well as the top questions related to those categories. The questions are a great starting point for creating content for your website.

SEO Writing Assistant

Once you have a topic and questions in mind for your content, the SEO Writing Assistant will be beneficial. Not exactly in SEMrush, but you need to have a SEMrush account to use it. The Writing Assistant can be used as an add-on in Google Docs or in WordPress. The tool allows you to enter your target keywords, and then reviews and analyzes your content based on keywords as well as comparing the content to sites that are ranking well for your selected keywords. Some of those factors are readability, total word count, paragraph length and more. The tool is very effective for writing SEO-friendly blog posts or giving current content a facelift.

List Management Tool

For local SEO, having your name, address, and phone number (NAP) consistent across the internet is important, which is where the list management tool comes in. The tool allows you to enter your NAP information, scours the major directories across the internet and then determines if your listing information is correct. If it is not correct, the tool will highlight the incorrect information. The tool will also point out major directories that your business could be listed in. There is an option to have SEMrush help you rectify the incorrect listings or submit the business to new directories for an additional fee.

The three tools mentioned above are all relatively new to SEMrush. The tool also has a lot of great features that allow you to analyze the strength of your website’s SEO, compare your site to a competitor and help you find new keywords to target. It has a lot of capabilities and will continue to improve as well!
