Google Proposed Changes To Chrome Could Weaken Ad Blockers — I typically use an ad blocker to make my web-browsing experience ad-free. Under Google’s potential changes here, ad blocking software is going to get more restricted and potentially be hampered to the point of being only partially effective. I understand why Google is doing it…online ads fund the behemoth and they can’t survive without them. Still, this seems kind of like a cheap shot. I suppose as long as the ad blockers can still tamp down the really terrible offenders (auto-play videos and pop-overs), I can put up with a few text ads here and there.
